What We Believe

"What comes into our minds when we think about God is the most important thing about us." - A.W. Tozer

Core Beliefs

The following are the core beliefs of Hillcrest Community Church based on the foundational truths taught in the bible. All of our teaching and ministry is rooted in and flows out of these biblical doctrines.

What We Believe at Hillcrest
At Hillcrest Community Church, our beliefs are grounded in Scripture and shaped by our desire to live for Jesus in everyday life. These truths guide our teaching, community, and mission as we follow Christ together.

The Bible
We believe the Bible is God’s Word—true, trustworthy, and alive. It shows us who God is, how He’s worked through history, and how we can live in response to His grace (2 Timothy 3:16; Proverbs 30:5).

God—Father, Son, and Holy Spirit
God is one, revealed in three persons—Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. He’s powerful and personal, eternal and near. This mystery isn’t something to solve but to worship (Matthew 3:16–17; John 14:26).

Jesus Christ
Jesus is the center of everything. Fully God and fully human, He lived a sinless life, died in our place, rose from the grave, and now reigns in heaven. He offers forgiveness, freedom, and purpose to all who trust in Him (John 1:14; Romans 5:8; Philippians 2:5–11).

Salvation by Grace
Salvation is a gift. We can’t earn it. Through faith in Jesus—His life, death, and resurrection—we are forgiven, made new, and welcomed into God’s family (Ephesians 2:8–9; Romans 10:9).

Water Baptism
After placing our faith in Jesus, we take the next step: baptism. It's a public celebration of what God has done in our hearts—a symbol of our new life, buried with Christ and raised to walk in His freedom (Romans 6:4; Matthew 28:19).

The Church
We are not meant to walk alone. The Church is God’s people—imperfect but loved—called to live in unity, serve with purpose, and share Jesus with our neighbors and the nations (Acts 2:42–47; Ephesians 2:19–22).

The Holy Spirit
The Holy Spirit lives in every believer, giving us strength to follow Jesus, wisdom to make choices, and boldness to love and lead. He equips us with spiritual gifts to build up the Church and reach the world (Galatians 5:22–23; Acts 1:8).

Becoming Like Jesus
We’re all in process. Sanctification means growing to reflect Jesus more in our words, actions, and attitudes. Through God’s Word and the Spirit, we become who we were created to be (Romans 12:2; 2 Corinthians 3:18).

Life After Death
Jesus conquered death—and that changes everything. One day, He will return, and those who trust Him will be raised to eternal life. Until then, we live with purpose and hope (1 Corinthians 15:20–22; John 11:25–26).
